I'm a research scientist in the MIT Laboratory for Information & Decision Systems, working with Prof. Sertac Karaman.
Before joining MIT, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Georgia Tech (2013-2015) working with Frank Dellaert. I got my Ph.D. from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2012. During my Ph.D. I was also a visiting researcher at the University of California Santa Barbara (2011) and at the University of Zaragoza (2010).
I got my MS degree in Mechatronic Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (2008) and a MS degree in Automation Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (2008).
My research interests include nonlinear estimation, numerical and distributed optimization, and probabilistic inference applied to sensing, perception, and decision-making in single and multi robot systems.

October 20, 2016 - The paper "Towards 4D Crop Analysis in Precision Agriculture: Estimating Plant Height and Crown Radius over Time via Expectation-Maximization" (in collaboration with J. Dong, G.C. Rains, T. Coolong, and F. Dellaert) was featured on the second edition of the Springer Handbook of Robotics.

February 7, 2016 - I'll serve as Associate Editor for IROS 2016.

September 20, 2015 - I'll be at IROS 2015 to present the work "Lagrangian Duality in 3D SLAM: Verification Techniques and Optimal Solutions", joint work with David Rosen, John Leonard, Giuseppe Calafiore and Frank Dellaert.
July 17, 2015 - the workshop "The problem of mobile sensors: setting future goals and indicators of progress for SLAM", that I co-organized with Cesar Cadena, Yasir Latif, Henry Carrillo, John Leonard, Jose Neira and Ian Reid, was a success!
